Note to Self
by Crystal Craig
We need you.
We need your clarity, your compassion, your aliveness. Not just your outrage or exhaustion.
We need you awake, not just informed. We need you restored, not just resilient.
Please, take the time to tend to yourself.
Unplug. Breathe. Walk away from the glowing screen that pulls your nervous system into survival mode.
Doomscrolling does not equal action. It does not make you safer. It does not make you smarter.
It hijacks your biochemistry, floods your body with fear, and chips away at the very things we most need you to preserve:
Your discernment.
Your vision.
Your ability to love.
Joy is not frivolous.
Peace is not passive.
Health is not a luxury.
Strength is not a solo act.
These are acts of resistance. These are how we reclaim the ground beneath our feet.
To the sensitive ones, the thinkers, the feelers, the fierce lovers of justice:
You are not too much. You are not alone.
You are necessary.
The world is aching—but you are not required to ache all the time to prove your allegiance to it.
We need you whole. We need you wise. We need you here, helping to remind us what’s worth protecting, and why we care so deeply in the first place.
So rest. Eat. Laugh. Make art. Touch the earth. Let gratitude flow through you—release the guilt.
Then rise—not just angry, but ready.
